Rain forests
Rain forest area the earth’s oldest living ecosystem. They are so amazing and beautiful. These incredible places cover only 6% of earth’s surface, but yet it contains more than half of the world’s plant and animal species! A rain forest can be described as a tall, dense jungle .The reason it is called a “Rain” forest is because of high amount of rainfall it gets for year. Rain forests are also responsible for 28% of the world oxygen turnover.
Western Ghats of India
Western Ghats (also known as Sahyadri) is a mountain range that runs parallel to the Western coast of Indian peninsula located entirely in India. It is a UNESCO world heritage and is one of the eight “Hottest hotspots” of biodiversity in the world. The rain starts near the border of Gujarat and Maharashtra and runs approximately 1600KM (990 miles) through the states of Maharashtra, Goa, Karnataka and Tamilnadu, ending near Kanyakumari, at the southern tip India. These hills covers 1, 60,000 KM, The average elevation is around 3700FT (1200Mts).
Nilgiri Mountains
The Nilgiri is also known as Blue Mountains, is part of Western Ghats in western Tamilnadu, Karnataka, Kerala states in southern India. It has cloud covered peaks, Dense forest ,rushing streams, undulating emerald green planes, breath taking views of valleys and glades. The entire area of 2500Sq.Km is known for its elevation, natural beauty and tourist spot. There is no better holiday mountain in India than the nilgiri’s.
